A cleanout can include metal, appliances, electronics, and other materials that need separate handling. Big Trailer Services reviews recycling options as part of arranged hauling in Santa Rosa and Sonoma County.
Identify the materials before they reach the trailer
Send photos of the full load and describe what the items are made from. A pile of metal, an old appliance, and boxes of electronics need different handling. Identifying those items before pickup helps us review the work and the available recycling options.
Receiving facilities set their own acceptance rules. We consider recycling where suitable and available, but cannot promise that every item in a mixed load will be recycled. Our electronic waste and appliance removal pages explain how to prepare those items.
- Metal items and scrap identified before pickup
- Appliances reviewed for appropriate handling
- Electronics listed separately from ordinary trash
- Recycling candidates from home and business cleanouts

Keep different materials easy to identify
Keep recycling candidates separate from wet trash and identify anything sharp, broken, or difficult to lift. Do not take an appliance apart or mix unknown liquids into the load to prepare for pickup. Describe unusual materials when requesting an estimate so we can confirm what we can take.
For local options you can handle yourself, consult Zero Waste Sonoma’s materials directory. For our pickup, send photos, your city, and the full item list. Mention stairs, gates, and the distance to the loading area.

Questions about recycling hauling
Tell us about your items and access before booking. We’ll confirm the removal scope and estimate with you.
Read the Planning GuideWill everything in the load be recycled?
No. Recycling depends on the material and receiving-facility acceptance. We discuss available options without guaranteeing that every item qualifies.
Can you take recycling items with the rest of my cleanout?
We can review a combined pickup. List the different materials and keep them identifiable so the estimate includes the handling the job needs.
